This armchair is constructed from a single piece of molded fiberglass with black enameled steel rod legs based on Saarinen's original design. The upholstery on this chair was custom woven in cotton and rayon to match the ca. 1963 two-tone white and black nylon textile used on the chair given to Walter Gropius for his birthday. Separate seat and back cushions upholstered in same fabric with piped self-trim.
