Powder horn with black and gold cord, and inscriptions on side and wider end. The horn is made of wood and has multiple decorations carved into it. The body of the horn has "IAMES TAGERT HIS HORN 1757" carved into it. The writing is surrounded by decorative geometric designs. Above the first carving "JAMS TAGERT" is written again, in the opposite direction and possibly in a different hand. Between the first and last names in a symbol. There are some figures drawn below the first inscription, including a person, two horses, and possibly a house. On the wide end of the horn is carved "D R," in much larger letters, with the symbol mentioned previously between the letters. The last few inches before the narrow end are undecorated, and there is a slight dip where the engraving ends. The cord is made of one gold and one black string, twisted around each other and with a tassel at each end. The tassel is black at the narrow and gold at the wide end. It is attached at both ends, via a loop at the narrower end and knotted around a small nail at the wide end. The is a loop tied in the middle of the cord shortening it, and the cord is frayed around there. Believed to be American made and used during the French and Indian War.
