Submission text: 04.20.2013 As I awoke this Saturday AM, I find myself so relieved and full heart-ed after the events of this past week in Boston. There aren't words to describe what happened to us this week. A shattering of our collective trust and innocence. Shock and disbelief that such horror could happen on our streets. The manhunt yesterday occurred in neighborhoods I've frequented and have some connection to in some way. What do you say to yourself after something like this? Then I noticed the magnolia trees are in full bloom here. They are so happy as if nothing is wrong with the world. Crocus and daffodils smile up at me and remind me to appreciate their fleeting beauty. In the face of unknowable horror the ticking of nature reminds us life will keep moving forward and all is not lost. Doesn't Psalm say that when we have nothing left, the flowers in the field and the birds of the air reminds us that God is still with us. There have been times in my life that I've had re-situate myself, re-caliber my existence, and this is usually the time all my senses are raw and alive and I notice the sun warming my skin, the gentle wind caressing my cheek, and all of God's creation speaking to me that all is not lost, I AM STILL WITH YOU. To my adopted city, I hope everyone can sense that on their gentle strolls this weekend...
