Miguel Angel Zavala Ortiz oral history with Robert A. Potash
Description:
Interview between Robert Potash and Dr. Miguel A. Zavala Ortiz. Topics include his role in Perón’s first government; Perón’s polities and strategies of control, including populism, authoritarianism, censorship, benefits for the industrial class and negative policies towards the medium class and workers; the dynamics of Perón’s ouster; Frondizi’s government and the radicals’ position towards it; the military’s role in politics; and Illia’s intentions of achieving social peace. The interview was originally recorded on three audiocassettes, and it cuts abruptly at a transition points, on tape 1 at 00:30:56, on tape 2 at 00:31:56, and on tape 3 at 00:31:43, before continuing. The quality of the audio from tape 2 is particularly poor, with Potash noting at the end that the microphone was mistakenly place on top of the recorder. The interview is also incomplete, and ends abruptly.
