WAM 20494 was sent to Elizabeth Hay by Marshall R. Urist, M.D on November 7, 1973, along with a letter and instructions on how to use the sample written by his associate Dr. Nogami. It remained in her possession until she donated the sample with her manuscript collection to the Harvard Medical Library in 2007. It was transferred to the Warren Museum in 2011?.
