Random notes concerning the 1969 United States Open Championship and an upcoming article on the Open. McCormack discusses the impact of the disputes between the PGA and the USGA and comments that the Open Championship was horribly run. McCormack notes that in addition to calling Orville Moody, President Nixon called and spoke to Arnold Palmer, and informed him that although he had heard Moody was a nice guy, he "didn't give a damn but was rooting for Palmer to win." McCormack would like to work that quote inot the article. He also would like to write about Palmer's strong gallery support and comments on Palmer's game in general. McCormack would also like to make reference to Gary Player's year. He notes that Miller Barber almost knocked a policeman down on the way to the locker room after the tournament saying "I just lost the U. S. Open, get out of my way." McCormack also comments on Bob Rosburg's teenage son being brought to tears after seeing his dad miss the putt. After the event, Rosburg commented how a single putt has the ability to change your entire life.
