Three-quarter-length portrait of seated child who stares directly at the camera, hands folded in lap. Back of chair is visible. Title devised by cataloger. Oval brass-colored mat with rope motif around opening, stamped "Davis" lower left. Decorative protector. Red velvet lining embossed with floral design. Case has mixed bouquet design and is stamped "Gaskill & Copper" which dates case to ca.1858. Two hook-and-eye closures. Davis is possibly J.J.P.Davis. Purchased from Mack Lee. #316. #8268.
