To John Brown poem. Dated about 1859. This antislavery broadside presents three works: “To John Brown,” a poem in five numbered stanzas denouncing the execution of John Brown; “To Virginia,” an acrostic poem in eight lines; and “The Bible,” three Bible verses from Isaiah, Malachi, and Jeremiah. At the head of the broadside is a wood-engraving depiction of the execution of John Brown and the words, “‘The Lord shall have them in derision.’ Read 2d Psalm.”
