Bond to Constable --- John B. Hartwell [March 3, 1857] Know all Men by there Presents, That We John B. Hartwell of West Cambridge in the County of Middlesex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as Prinsciple (?) and Isaac Shattuck and William H. Whittemore as Deputies are holden and stand firmly ground and obliged unto the Inhabitants of said West Cambridge in there [sic] corporate capacity in the full and just sum of Five Hundred Dollars to be paid unto the Inhabitants in there [sic] corporate capacity and there assigns, To which payment will and freely to be made we bind ourselves our being executors and administrators firmly by these Presents, Witness or hands and [?] Dated March 3rd A.D. 1857 The conditions of this obligation is such that if the above bounds John B. Hartwell who has been duly elected Constable in said Town of West Cambridge for the current year, shall, will and faithfully perform all his duties as Constable in service of all Civil Processes which may be committed to him and shall have caused this bond with the approval of the Selectmen of said Town to be placed in the Clerk's Office of said Town before service of any writ or execution then the obligation shall be void otherwise to be and remain in full force.
