Woodhead II Extracts from journals of Capt. Stephen P. Blake Edited by his nephew, William E. Wood Printed in The Arlington Advocate February 22, 1928 - April 4, 1930" Large dark blue book with "the ideal scrap book" embossed in small, plain font in the upper left hand corner. Covers are bound together with black string through two holes on the left hand spine. Contains a table of contents in the beginning. The first section contains selections from the journals of many Arlington residents, read before the Historical Society on Jan. 31, 1928, and printed in the Arlington Advocate between Feb. 1928 through May 1928. Much of the book consists of the story of Stephen P. Blake, taken from his papers edited by his nephews. Blake arrived in California in January 1949 and spent five years there. His time spent in California was divided between mining and farming. He also had a business catching and selling live bears, and had many interactions with the local Indians. The record is almost complete, but with some articles missng. The record skips from November 2 to November 16, 1928; from April 26 to May 10, 1929; and from May 17 to June 14. 9 1/4" by 11 3/4.
