This season closed with a record of 21-4, many players earned individual honors, and Coach Dottie Zenaty earned NEWMAC Coach of the Year and the Dita/NFHCA Division III New England East Region Coach of the Year. The Springfield College Field Hockey program started in the 1950s as an intramural sport. The early days consisted of few practices and contests and gradually grew into the intercollegiate sport it is today. In 1970, the program's iconic coach, Dottie Zenaty, returned to her alma mater to coach field hockey.
