Here is one of the first team photographs ever taken of the softball team at Springfield College. The photograph was taken in 1969. Thanks to the help of Charlotte Wright, most players in the photograph were identified. Players on the front row from left to right were: unknown player, Pam Prentiss, Di Armet, Judy Bridges, Charlotte Wright, Sheila Bewsee; players standing behind from left to right were: Ginny Cychec (assistant coach), Sally Maish, Chris Vader, Linda McFarland, Jan Baron, unknown player, Jan Luchsinger, Jo Palumbo, Deb Morgan, Bonnie Bucketts, Diane Potter (coach). Diane Potter, standing, far right, created the team in the 1963-1964 season as an extramural squad.

Coach Potter was considered to be a leading pioneer for softball in the New England area. The Softball field at Springfield College was recognized and dedicated to Coach Diane Potter and was named Potter Field. In 1989, she became the second woman inducted into the Springfield College Athletics Hall of Fame, and during that academic year, she served as the Springfield Distinguished Professor of Humanics.
