Phil received the Adams' letter four days ago and was glad to hear from them. Weather in France has been rainy and the camp is very muddy. Harry passed his examination, but since his number is high, he doesn't expect to be called for a while. Phil is sorry to hear that Mr. Adams was hurt and hopes he recovers soon. He was promoted to sergeant on April 1st, which pleased him. He's been doing police duty in a small town near camp, which he enjoys. In regards to the girl question of the last letter, Phil finds that American girls suit him more than any he has met abroad. Maybe things would be different if he spoke better French, as right now he does most of his speaking with his hands. For the sake of his work he's hoping to improve his French.
