<mods:abstract>A photograph of Springfield College alum and Queens College head women's basketball coach, Lucille Kyvallos with two Queens College basketball players. She stands in the middle of the two players. The players are wearing their uniforms.</mods:abstract>
<mods:note>Lucille Kyvallos graduated from Springfield College in 1955. She is regarded as one of the pioneers of women's basketball in collegiate sports. She was the head coach of the Women's Basketball team at Queens College from 1968 through 1981, holding an overall record of 239-77. In 1973 she led Queens to the championship game before falling to Immaculata University 65-61. In 1975 a rematch of this game was played in Madison Square Garden, marking the first women's basketball game to be played in the arena. Kyvallos also served as coach for the United States in the 1977 World University Games, winning a silver medal.</mods:note>
