  <mods:note>William R. Ruth graduated from Springfield College in 1974. A standout swimmer for Springfield College, he earned 12 NCAA All-American honors and set four school records during his career. After graduation, Ruth competed as a professional triathlete from 1981-1987 and ranked in the top 10 in the world in all distances for much of his career. Ruth also taught health and physical education at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA. for more than thirty years and served as the director of Pennsylvania Special Olympics Track &amp; Field Program and Nordic Skiing events.</mods:note>
