George A. Dixon was graduate of Springfield College in 1970. During his time at Springfield College, he played on the Springfield College Varsity Baseball team. He is regarded as one of the best left-handed pitchers to ever play in the SC program, compiling a three-year record of 22-4. During his senior year he helped the team to a ranking of fourth nationally, with a 2-1 record in the NCAA Division II World Series. After his graduation from Springfield, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins, playing one season for the Auburn Twins in the New York-Penn League. He left to assume a coaching position at the Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartfod Ct., where he served as varsity baseball and soccer coach for many years. He was inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.
