The man on the left side of the picture with a red t-shirt is believed to be Coach Herrington.</mods:abstract>
  <mods:note>David Herrington was born on March 1, 1949 in New York City. He earned his undergraduate degree from Lea College (Minnesota) in 1972 and his master’s degree from Springfield College. When he entered Springfield College in the fall semester of 1973, he taught the women’s skills and techniques course in track. At the time there was no track team, with the support of Coach Vern Cox, created the Cherokee Track Club which ultimately became the women’s varsity track and field team.</mods:note>
