  <mods:abstract>This pamphlet titled "Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame Induction" discussed the 1990 induction ceremony, that took place on November 3, 1990. The ceremony consisted of the invocation by Diane Potter ('57), opening remarks by Alden "Whitney" Burnham ('48), dinner, the President's remarks by Frank S. Falcone, the induction ceremony, closing remarks by Alden "Whitney" Burnham, and alma mater by Hubert Hill ('35). The pamphlet then discusses the following people who were inducted into the Hall of Fame that year: Ralph A. Piper, Bruce Hutchinson. Thomas F. Waddell, and Dottie Potter Zenaty. Ralph A. Piper graduated from Springfield in 1928; he then went on to coach swimming and tennis at multiple universities and served on the Olympic Committees for the Games of 1948, 1952, and 1956. His many honors include: 1962 Coach of the Year from the National Gymnastics Coaches Association; Honor Award from the American Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in 1985; the Honor Award from the National Dance Association in 1985; the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Springfield College in 1985; the National Hall of Fame in 1959; and the Fullbright Awards in 1956, 1962 and 1965. Bruce Hutchinson graduated from Springfield in 1955. He went on to serve on the College Swimming Coaches Association's College Division Committee from 1965 to 1972. He chaired the NCAA Division II Swimming Committee from 1973 to 1978, and the CAHPERD's Vice President for Health in 1964. He as been published in Swimming Techniques Quarterly, CAHPERD Bulletin, Swimming World and the Journal of HPERD. Thomas F. Waddell (November 1, 1937 - July 11, 1987) was an American Olympic athlete who is best known for founding the Gay Games, a competition modeled on the Olympics for athletes of all sexual orientations. Waddell lived to see the enormous success of the second Gay Games in 1986 and to win the gold medal in the javelin event. While a student at Springfield College, Dottie Zenaty played tennis, field hockey, softball, and basketball. She then served as the head field hockey coach for thirty-four seasons, during which she coached more matches than any other coach in college field hockey history. With a record of 377-233-43 (.610 winning percentage), she also won more matches than any coach in New England and ranks fifth on college field hockey’s all-time victory list.</mods:abstract>
