Wayne E. Sinning was born on March 30, 1931 in South Dakota. He majored in physical education from South Dakota State College, from which he graduated in 1953. Sinning earned his master’s degree from his alma mater in 1956, and then his doctorate from the University of Oregon in 1966. After graduating, he was hired by Springfield College as an associate professor. Three years later, he was promoted to full professorship. In 1975, he became the Buxton Professor of Physical Education. During his time at Springfield College, he conducted numerous workshops on campus that dealt with timely issues. Sinning resigned from Springfield College in 1976 and began working at Kent State that fall. During his academic career, he published his research in the journals “Medicine and Science in Sports” and “Physiology of Muscular Activity.”
