She has a printed yellow kerchief knotted around her neck. Her dress is belted below the bosom with a black ribbon and paste buckle She wears a stranded coral necklace and coral earrings. She wears white stockings and black shoes. The smaller girl wears a white dress, white chemise, printed yellow kerchief, black belt, paste buckle and black shoes. She holds a small openwork basket in her right hand, partially filled with red berries. She holds a cluster of berries in her left hand. The room is decorated with a large carpet or painted floorcloth. Behind the girls and to the right is a large paned window, partially covered with swagged drapery held in place with gold cords that end in tassels. Tree tops and clouds are visible through the window. The painting is framed in black with a gilt inner frame.
