Description:
Part 1: 18:39 Part 2: 20:10 Part 3: 18:00 Route 66 In New Mexico From Tucumcari to Gallup, this documentary travels, in grand style, historic Route 66 from one end to the other. Through the unique stories of the people who have lived all their lives along this famous road and illustrated with snapshots, postcards and general kitsch, Route 66 In New Mexico celebrates the life of this famous highway in the "Land of Enchantment." This documentary is also part history lesson: it shows the different phases of travel from the early mud-soaked, rough-and-tumble travel to modern black top. We learn of the different strategies and politics in getting Route 66 built in New Mexico and of the flashy, neon glory days of America’s Main Street. Importantly, this documentary ends with a look at how we are creating our own mark in the history of Route 66 today. Capitalizing upon the rich history, areas along this historic highway are now being revitalized, making the history tangible and marketable. This documentary shows how today, we are adding a new chapter to the myth of this historic road.
