<mods:abstract>A small grassy square is bordered on one side by the shell of a former church. The Shawmut Congregational Church (built 1864) was gutted by fire in 1978. Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción purchased the church and developed it into affordable homeownership condominiums and ground-floor commercial space. The housing was called Taino Tower after the Taino, the native inhabitants of Puerto Rico. The first condos went up for sale in 1991. Cars are parked along the street side of the little park in this picture, and two downtown skyscrapers are visible in the background.</mods:abstract>
