Construction workers move a large beam in the former church that they are rehabilitating into a cultural center.
Description:
Six construction workers move a large wooden beam. They are at work in the former church that Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción was converting into a cultural center. Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción, led by Jorge Hernandez, purchased the former All Saints Lutheran Church (built 1898) on West Newton Street in Boston's South End, and renovated it for use as a cultural center and performing arts venue for the city's Hispanic community. The Center opened in 1986 and was renamed the Jorge N. Hernandez Cultural Center in honor of Hernandez, whose funeral was the first event held in the newly refurbished space.
