During his senior year at the International Y.M.C.A. Training School (now known as Springfield College), Durand served as the Physical Director at the Y.M.C.A. in Westfield, Massachusetts. From 1896 until 1899, he served in the same capacity at the Buffalo, New York Y.M.C.A.. During 1900, Durand was Physical Director at the Charlestown Branch Y.M.C.A. in Boston, Massachusetts, and from 1901 until 1907, he was the Physical Director at the Salem, Massachusetts facility. Durand died August 10, 1939. Amos Alonzo Stagg (1862-1965) served as the Assistant Physical Education Instructor to Dr. Luther Gulick while attending the Y.M.C.A. Training School. From 1890 until 1892, Stagg acted as Assistant Coach and Captain of the school’s football team. After graduation, Stagg was recruited to become the first Physical Education Director at the University of Chicago. He served in this faculty position until 1933, when he moved to the College of the Pacific to become the Physical Education Director. In 1947, he retired. Stagg died March 17, 1965 at the age of 102.
