Many of the photographs in this collection were taken by members of the college's Publications Department (later renamed the Marketing & Communications Department) for use in brochures, reports, and other publicity. Because of this, many photographs have ink marks indicating the portion of the larger image that would be published. Other photographs were taken by GCC student newspaper staff, faculty members, and staff of other departments. A small number of photographs were donated to the college by the photography departments of local newspapers.

Names, locations, and dates have been provided where possible, either from information recorded with the photographs at the time they were processed or identified later by others at the college.
