The Medford Historical Society & Museum presents Civil War-related photographs and montages from a collection of military artifacts and materials donated to the society in 1948 by the S. C. Lawrence Post of the Grand Army of the Republic. These are primarily Civil War and post-war portraits of veterans associated with the post and of other persons of note during the Civil War era.

The collection includes a daguerreotype portrait of an unknown woman. During the Civil War in 1864 or 1865, this portrait was confiscated with other personal effects from an unidentified, captured member of the 12th South Carolina Confederate regiment.

The images may be downloaded for personal, educational, and research use.
