A handwritten letter marked "private" from Captain Isaac Hull to Secreatary of the Navy Benjamin Crowninshield, dated 20 November 1815. Hull complains that Commodore William Bainbridge has just demanded that Hull relinquish the command of the Charlestown Navy Yard to him. Hull wonders by what authority he does so.
