Pay Allotment for William McCullock, November 17, 1800
Description:
A pre-printed allotment form used by U.S. Navy sailors to designate some of their pay to family. This form was completed by William McCullock, a seaman aboard USS Constitution during the Quasi-War with France. It is signed by McCullock and Captain Silas Talbot, and registered by Purser James Deblois. McCullock alloted $8.50 per month (half of his $17 per month pay) to his wife, Mary McCullock, beginning on February 1, 1801. On the reverse are two notes stating that $34 was received on May 11, 1801 and $17 was paid on June 19, 1801 .
