This pre-printed seaman's protection certificate for James Reed, Jr. is dated December 21, 1814 and signed by Henry Warren, Customs Collector at Plymouth, Massachusetts. Reed was a 23-year-old American seaman, 5 feet 4 1/4 inches tall, with a light complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, has a scar on third finger of his right hand.
