Anne Warren Weston was grieved when Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman showed her Sarah Grimke's letter of yesterday and was surprised at the unfounded statements. She explains that, according to plan, "the Misses Grimke were invited to lecture ... The Odeon was not procured for Angelina more than for yourself." She details the relative popularity of Sarah M. and Angelina E. Grimke, repeats a criticism of Sarah's monotonous tone, and Mrs. Maria W. Chapman's objection to telling Sarah Grimke about it: "No - for many like Sarah best." After emphasizing the favorable impression of Sarah's lecture made in Boston, Anne criticizes the lecturer's "giving authorities at length," as taking up too much time.
