Rose Hawthorne Lathrop autograph letter signed to Annie Adams Fields with appended note from Sophia Hawthorne to Annie Adams Fields, The Wayside, Concord, [September] 1861
Has a family of paper dolls and a black kitten but finds it "so desolate to play alone." Is going to the mountains and then to Salem. Appended is a postscript by Sophia Hawthorne in which she writes that Rose's letter is "a melancholy cry for companionship." Intends to play with the child herself that winter. Dated "Sunday."
