The Boston Bees opened the 1940 season at home against the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 16. The Brooklyn Dodgers catcher is either Babe Phelps or Gus Mancuso. Phelps was ejected by Klem in the 3rd inning and replaced by Mancuso (Society for American Baseball Research, 2016).
