<em>The Woman's Era</em>, edited and published by Josephine St. Pierre Ruffin, was the first national periodical published by and for Black women in the United States. The publication was originally produced for the Woman's Era Club, an advocacy group for Black women, but began national distribution in 1894. It ran until January 1897.
