I was returning from Fast Track, on the first floor, when cheers and applause erupted signaling the Patriots had won. I quickly walked to the bannisters to snap a picture, for bragging purposes of course, when an unexpected visitor suddenly appeared. This is the picture you see. It was not until much later that I realized what I had been a part of. I was standing in the top pediatric hospital in the world, watching one of the most beloved sports teams in the country celebrate winning Super Bowl LIII. And, in the midst of it all? A tiny human, unknowingly, watching history be made as Tom Brady became the first player to win six Super Bowls. Boston Children’s Hospital is filled with moments like this. Moments that remind you to slow down and enjoy what it means to have been a child, to see the world through their eyes and realize the fact that you’re standing in front of a two-story television, to watch a football game, is nothing short of magic. I would like to dedicate this photograph to the woman who encouraged me to come to Boston Children’s Hospital. The woman who believed in the power of learning from children. The woman who reminded me that a three year old may say something more profound than anything a textbook or well-seasoned attending could ever say. / The woman who wanted to see the world learn and used every moment as a teaching opportunity. The woman who, as a pediatric nurse and mother, never gave up hope on finding a cure for acute myeloid leukemia. The woman who once told me, 'You can do anything. Do not let anyone tell you different. All you need is great teachers and learning can be fun. Do not forget to enjoy life along the way.' It is with great sorrow to have lost such a wonderful woman, but I hope her words inspire you to listen more closely. To enjoy the journey. To remember we are surrounded by the greatest teachers of all, and that we may learn something new from those who still see the best in the world. And, most importantly, to remember every moment matters. In loving memory of my aunt, Linda Ann Lambert Lott.
