Located on Charles River Road, circa 1970. The monument was dedicated in 1931 and consists of a statue of Sir Richard Saltonstall and two bas-reliefs on the sides that showcase two historical moments in Watertown?s history. George Frederick Robinson was responsible for raising funds, approximately $30,000 dollars, to erect the Founders Monument depicting Sir Richard Saltonstall and decorated with the bas-relief of Roger Clap?s landing and the anti-tax protest of 1632. The monument and bas-reliefs were sculpted by Henry Hudson Kitson. ir Henry Hudson Kitson was an English sculptor who worked in the United States where he sculpted many representations of American military heroes.
