Young ladies and men with priest
Item Information
- Title:
- Young ladies and men with priest
- Description:
-
This is a black and white photograph printed on cardstock showing a posed group shot of seventeen young men and women, along with two older men. The photo is faded, bent and sepia-toned with age, and has a dark splotch on its left side. It depicts its subjects in formal suits and dresses, with fashions and hairstyles contemporary to the early 1920s. They are standing and sitting in three rows to ensure that everyone's face is visible to the camera. The front row is seated on short stools, the middle on chairs, and the people in the back row stand against the wall. The setting is indoors with a carpet and large curtains visible, and may be a venue like a hotel ballroom designed for hosting formal events. The purpose of this gathering and the connection of these people to each other are unknown, though it is most likely to be related to a youth church or school organization, given the presence of "Father Garrahan," an older priest seated at the center of the group. Another older, mustached man in the back row is identified as William Meisen, Sr., but his connection to these young men and women is similarly unconfirmed. The back of the photograph is a dark blue-greenish color.
