Mrs. Mary Welsh explains that a certain handsome silk table cover, the product of immense labor, is priced lower than its value in order to avoid custom house duty. The Duchess of Sutherland contributed the knitted articles made by the inmates of Glasgow Blind Asylum. Mary Welsh comments that "the annexation of Texas is a grievous affair & calls for renewed & increased effort on our part." H. C. Wright was here last week and is expected tomorrow. He is "giving the Free Church no rest, but it seems to do them little good..." Mary Welsh is "sick of this world's religion."</mods:note>
