<mods:note>In this letter, Catherine Paton explains that it will be impossible to send the contributions for the Boston anti-slavery fair by the middle of the month, but Maria Weston Chapman may safely expect to receive the box by the 18th of December. Catherine Paton believes "the Christian principle of Anti-Slavery is now being understood by the people of Scotland." She praises the zeal and faithfulness of Henry C. Wright. The Emancipation Society has succeeded in making the Free Church "feel very uncomfortable." Frederick Douglass is expected soon.</mods:note>
