Edmund Quincy says that he should have been vexed when he eagerly opened the Non-Resistant to look for Maria Weston Chapman's article and found none. He imposes a small penance that Maria W. Chapman provide an article for the issue after next. He confides that the Non-Resistant "is getting to be a dead bore to me" and confesses his laziness. Edmund Quincy says: "I know too that such sort of work, and perhaps a declamatory speech now & then at an Anti-Slavery meeting is about all I am good for." He wishes that "General Collins would fix his headquarters at Dedham."
