Edmund Quincy refers to Maria Weston Chapman's letter telling of the engagement of her sister, and then he reflects on the nature of happiness. He tells of the joy in his country life and home. He suggests that Maria Weston Chapman spend the summer "here somewhere." He discusses the local problem of the "Anti-pro-slavery-ministers & churches resolutions." He discusses the problem of when to hold anti-slavery meetings and the conflict between the meetings and regular church services. He hopes that Maria W. Chapman did not forget to withdraw from Dr. Channing's church. Edmund Quincy is willing to lecture at Pawtucket next Sunday.
