In this letter, Augustus Hesse wrote: "Herewith I informe [sic] you and my Wife, that we got Marching Order, but we do not know where to--" He requests that Debora Weston not send him the box now, until he knows more about their movements. Hesse said: "They say a great Battle is going on--all the Boys are in great spirits and eager to fight." Hesse ends the letter with this thought: "I shall not forget you even in the hotest Battle."
The battle mentioned in this letter is the Battle of Fredericksburg.
