These photographs are probably of a Memorial Day event in West Dennis in May of 1942, when Australian soldier Sargeant Allan Catip visited his uncle, Wilfred Laine and family in Hyannis and decorated the grave of Anzac soldier and poet Tom Skeyhill in West Dennis. Skeyhill was killed in a plane crash at Barnstable Municipal Airport and was buried in West Dennis, where he had a summer home.
