After being released by the Boston Nationals following the 1911 season, Cy Young went to spring training in 1912 in Hot Springs, AK. with the Boston Red Sox. Nearing his 44th birthday, Young announced his arm was shot and he decided to retire. In this image, Young is wearing the 1911 Boston Nationals road uniform. This was the only time in his long career that he wore this type of dark road uniform for any major league team (Society for American Baseball Research, 2010-2011).
