Summary provided by the Society for American Baseball Research, 2010-2011.
Research by the Society for American Baseball Research in 2010-2011 disputes the identifications made in this image, saying that the Yankees are not likely the visiting team and the catcher is not likely the Yankees Bill Dickey (Dickey wore #8 and this catcher does not seem to be wearing that number). The Society further notes that, with the dark cap and socks, the visiting team could be either the Detroit Tigers or the Philadelphia Athletics.
