Letter from Mary Grew, Boston, [Mass.], to James Miller M'Kim, July 14th, 1861
Description:
Mary Grew writes James Miller M'Kim concerning an inquiry made of her by Roger Folger Wallcut concerning the effect of a proposed discount relative to the "Liberator acct" on the funds of the American Anti-Slavery Society at large. Grew opines that such a discount would negatively affect the Pennsylvania Anti-Slavery Society's finances. Grew informs M'Kim that she attended a meeting of the Executive Committee of the American Anti-Slavery Society concerning the publication of the National Anti-Slavery Standard, and reports that they are "very earnest in their determination to sustain" the Standard if possible. Grew informs M'Kim that Maria Weston Chapman has declined to hold the "annual Festival" that year, but that the Executive Committee has unanimously decided to host it.
