  <mods:abstract>Samuel May, Jr. inquires if Garrison is aware if Mr. Benson was a member of the Society of Friends or not. May states that on his visits to Brooklyn, he had always supposed Benson a Quaker, but states that he had been told that this was not the case, &amp; that Benson "adopted the plain garb as mor esuitable to his taste &amp; feelings" rather than out of religious conviction. May closes by stating that T. J. Mumford had written him stating he had yet to receive the letters of Theodore Parker as promised, and reminds Garrison to not neglect to deliver these.</mods:abstract>
