Letter from Isaac Richmond Barbour, Charlton, to Amos Augustus Phelps, April 3. 1839
Description:
Isaac R. Barbour writes to Amos A. Phelps that they can help each other out financially. After describing his own financial situation, which necessitate him to raise $500, and pointing out that Phelps assumed the responsibility of about $500 for the Abolitionist, Barbour proposes a plan that will benefit both of them, which involves Phelps’s raising $500 among his antislavery friends in 6-8 months and Barbour’s taking $100 of Phelps pledge to the paper in return.
