In reply to Amos A. Phelps’s inquiry, Isaac R. Barbour describes the prevalence of the antislavery sentiment among ministers in his area as well as the small size of antislavery society membership among them. He goes on criticizing William Lloyd Garrison for alienating certain people from the cause.
