S. S. C. Abbott gently declines Phelps’s request for specific and detailed information regarding Abbott’s interpretation of Phelps’s letter to Fitch. In response to this, Phelps reiterates his intention behind the request: he wanted to “know the exact ground” of Abbott’s decision and his stance on pastoral rights.
