Notes:
William Henry Swan was the son of William Henry Swan of Dorchester, Mass and Mary Elizabeth Bronsdon of Milton Mass. He travelled to Shanghai, China where he died at the age of 20. His close friend Frederick A. O' Connor collected his belongings to return them to his family in Dorchester, Mass., where he then married William's sister Mary Richardson Swan.
Painting of William Henry Swan and his sister Mary Richardson Swan as young children is located at the Jackson Homestead. It is assumed to have been done by Robert Hinckly of Milton, Massachusetts, in 1845.
